This page includes the non final version of the chapter composing the book The Cambridge Handbook of AI and Technologies in Courts , edited by Zalnieriute M and Limante A, to be published by Cambridge University Press in 2025.
The chapter “Courting AI: How Brazilian Courts Are Using AI” first describes how the technology was introduced into legal systems and its benefits. This is followed by a discussion of the policies implemented for such use, and finally, it argues that, despite the potential increase in efficiency, it is necessary to emphasize the guarantee of transparency, accountability, and digital sovereignty.
